Myths in the Cold Light of Winter

Drawn from ancient tales and the stillness of the cold months, The Winter Spirits collection brings together mythic figures who emerge from land, sea, and sky. From the Deer Mother whose antlers bloom into stars, to the selkie rising from the waves, each design carries a quiet, wintry magic, hand-engraved on glassware made for sharing the warmth of a dram or the clarity of a chilled spirit.

From Artwork to Engraving

Each commission follows the same studio process, from artwork preparation and proof approval through to hand sandblasting and finishing in our Fife workshop.

Artwork Preparation

A digital proof is provided for approval before engraving.

Traditional Sandblasting

Each piece is engraved by hand using traditional sandblast techniques.

The Story Behind the Collection

Winter Spirits began as a personal exploration of the figures, creatures and seasonal symbols that appear throughout northern folklore.

From the mountain presence of the Cailleach to the star-bound Constellation Stag and the flowing forms of the Selkie, each engraving was developed as an original composition for glass. At the centre of the collection sits Aurora, a wrap-around decanter design inspired by the movement of northern light.

Many of the pieces became part of our own Midwinter and Burns Supper celebrations, appearing on the table alongside music, candlelight and shared stories.
