The Story Behind the Design
Throughout Scottish and northern folklore, the Selkie moves between two worlds, living as both seal and woman. She belongs to the shoreline, where land and sea meet, and to stories shaped by departure, return and the pull of the water.
This composition brings both forms together. The seal rises through the water as flowing hair dissolves into waves, allowing creature, sea and human figure to merge within the same movement.
Created for the Winter Spirits collection, the design draws on transformation and the shifting boundary between land and sea.
