The Story Behind the Design
The Snow Hare is shown mid leap beneath a crescent moon formed from interwoven snowflakes, with drifting frost following in its wake. The composition explores movement, seasonal transformation and the quiet stillness of winter.
In northern folklore, the hare is often linked with the moon and the turning of the seasons. Appearing at the boundary between autumn and winter, it has long been regarded as a creature of transformation, moving effortlessly between the familiar and the imagined.
This engraving places the hare in full flight beneath a crescent moon formed entirely from crystalline snowflakes. As it leaps, its winter coat dissolves into drifting frost, blurring the boundary between animal and snowfall until the two become almost inseparable.
Created for the Winter Spirits collection, the Snow Hare reflects the quiet magic of the northern winter, where imagination, nature and folklore become almost inseparable.
Developed specifically for glass, the composition preserves movement and clarity while allowing the finer details to emerge as light moves across the engraved surface.
