The Story Behind the Design

Some words deserve to be remembered exactly as they were written — a note in their handwriting, a poem they once penned, or a message that means the world to you. Whether it's a birthday card signed with love, a line from a letter, or a phrase they always used to say, we help you preserve it forever in engraved glass.

Each piece is custom-made using your scanned handwriting and sandblasted by hand in our Scottish studio, creating a unique keepsake that’s as meaningful as the words themselves.

What Makes It Special

  • Your message prepared with careful spacing and layout.
  • Handwritten notes can be redrawn for clarity while preserving character.
  • Traditional sandblasting creates a soft, tactile engraving.
  • A clean surface that places the words at the centre.
  • A lasting keepsake for moments that deserve permanence.

If your message contains handwriting or longer text, we’ll suggest the best layout for legibility.

About Your Glass

A jade-tinted rectangular plaque with a smooth, polished surface designed for clear, balanced engraving. The gentle green hue adds warmth and distinction, while the clean edges keep the focus on your message, emblem or artwork. Suitable for vertical or horizontal display, it offers a versatile format for everything from concise inscriptions to more considered layouts.

Best for: Versatile display engraving, presentations and formal dedications.

This plaque stands securely on its edge in either orientation, giving you complete freedom over the design composition. The subtle tint enhances the contrast of the engraved detail, especially in soft or directional light. Its understated form suits corporate presentations, commemorative dedications or personal display pieces, offering a quiet clarity that feels at home in both formal and relaxed settings.

Where Words Last Forever

A space for messages that matter.

Some pieces are chosen not for their decoration, but for the meaning they carry. This collection is devoted to messages, words written to mark a passing, honour a moment, or express thanks that would be difficult to say aloud. Each engraving is prepared with care so that the sentiment remains clear, grounded and lasting.

Where Words Last Forever
Where Words Last Forever

There are times when the most powerful part of a gift or keepsake is not the object itself, but the words it holds. A handwritten note, a line of poetry, a simple thank-you, or a message in memory of someone dearly missed — these are the phrases people return to, display, and keep close.

Our role in these pieces is a quiet one. We redraw handwriting, refine spacing, and prepare the layout so that your chosen message reads with clarity and respect. Once approved, the engraving is completed by hand using traditional sandblasting techniques, giving the words a soft, frosted depth. This gentle finish ensures that the message remains the focus, supported by craftsmanship rather than overshadowed by it.

Every plaque or display piece becomes a place for reflection — a reminder, a comfort, or a note of gratitude made permanent.

Traditional Sandblast Engraving

For over four decades, every glass that leaves our studio has been engraved using a time-honoured sandblasting technique, a craft rooted in precision, patience, and the belief that meaningful gifts deserve more than a quick machine-made mark. Unlike surface printing or shallow laser etching, sandblast engraving cuts softly into the glass to create a deep, permanent finish with a beautifully tactile feel. It’s the reason our designs look crisp from every angle and remain flawless for a lifetime.

  1. Artwork Refined With Care

Your chosen design or personalisation is transformed into precise vector artwork, a format that captures every fine line, curve, and serif. This allows us to prepare an engraving layout that balances perfectly on the shape of the glass. Whether it’s a portrait, a crest, or a message, every element is positioned by hand to ensure it sits naturally within the piece.

  2. Creating the Single-Use Stencil

The artwork is then transferred onto a specialist stencil using UV exposure. Each stencil is created for one single engraving only, never reused, which means the edges remain sharp and the details stay crisp. The stencil is carefully hand-applied and burnished onto the glass to protect every area that should remain clear.

  3. Hand-Engraved Using Fine Aluminium Oxide

The glass is taken into the blasting cabinet, where a controlled stream of fine aluminium oxide gently cuts into the exposed areas of the surface. This stage is done entirely by hand, allowing us to deepen lines, soften shading, and shape textures in a way machines simply cannot replicate. Each piece takes time — but the result is unmistakable: a smooth satin finish with real depth and character.

  4. Finishing, Polishing & Inspection

Once engraved, the stencil is removed and the glass is thoroughly cleaned and polished to reveal the final detail. Every piece is then checked for balance, clarity, depth and alignment. Only when it meets our studio’s standards is it gift-boxed and ready to become part of someone’s story.

Sandblast engraving has been at the heart of our work since 1982. It remains the most beautiful and enduring method of personalising glass, a blend of heritage craft and modern precision. From small keepsakes to intricate commissions, every piece is made by hand, one at a time, from our studio in Fife.
