Engraved Whisky Bottle: A Personal Commission
Share
This commission involved the engraving of a single malt whisky bottle, prepared with a personalised message for a future occasion.
Reference and Preparation
The wording was supplied by the customer and set as a clean, balanced layout to suit the shape of the bottle.
A digital proof was prepared first, allowing the text to be reviewed and confirmed before engraving began.
Material Considerations
The bottle included a finished label that needed to remain undisturbed.
To achieve this, the masking process was adapted. No moisture or adhesive contact was introduced near the label, requiring a more controlled application and additional handling time during preparation.
Engraving
The design was transferred to stencil and sandblasted directly onto the glass surface, producing a fine etched finish with consistent depth.
The process was carried out slowly, with attention given to maintaining clarity across the full message.
Outcome
The completed bottle carries the inscription as a permanent part of the glass, prepared for a specific moment in the future.
A single piece, prepared with care and held for a time yet to come.
