The Story Behind the Design
A hand engraved stag formed from flowing lines and scattered stars, inspired by the constellations that have guided stories, travellers and imaginations for centuries.
A pair of engraved tulip glasses depicting the Oak King and the Holly King, two figures associated with the changing seasons and the turning of the year.
The Oak King is crowned with oak leaves and acorns, representing the growing light and the journey towards midsummer. His counterpart, the Holly King, is surrounded by holly leaves and berries, associated with the darker half of the year and the return towards midwinter.
Together, the two figures form a paired composition, each marking one half of the seasonal cycle.
The tall tulip shaped glasses provide a generous surface for the detailed engravings while remaining suitable for sparkling wine or wine. Each figure has been prepared specifically for engraving, allowing the foliage, features and contrasting forms of oak and holly to remain clear on the glass.
