The Highland cow has become one of Scotland's most recognisable animals, equally at home in Highland glens, islands and open moorland. This design places the distinctive long haired silhouette within a simple Highland landscape, creating a composition that celebrates both the animal and the place it belongs.
Beneath the illustration is the Gaelic phrase Doch an Dorrach, traditionally translated as the farewell drink. Once offered as the final dram before a guest set off into the darkness, the expression reflects the long standing place of hospitality within Scottish culture. The phonetic pronunciation is included alongside the original Gaelic, making the language itself part of the design.
Combining landscape, language and one of Scotland's best loved animals, the engraving offers a contemporary interpretation of Scottish heritage, prepared for those who appreciate both its traditions and its enduring character.
