The Story Behind the Design
A Highland cow set within a Highland landscape, presented in the style of a commemorative whisky label. Personalised with a name, surname, inscription, established year and age or milestone.
Inspired by the character of traditional Scotch whisky labels, this engraved apothecary decanter combines Highland scenery, a hand drawn Highland cow and classic typography into a design created for personal milestones and celebrations.
The central illustration is framed by rolling Highland hills, while the surrounding layout provides space for five personalised elements: a first name, surname, commemorative inscription, established year and age or anniversary. The Gaelic phrase Deoch an Dorus, meaning the farewell drink, completes the composition, connecting the piece to one of Scotland's oldest whisky traditions.
Prepared as a presentation piece rather than a reproduction of any particular distillery label, the design brings together Scottish landscape, language and personal storytelling in a format intended to mark birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and other significant occasions.
The engraving is centred and spaced to maintain balance within the available engraving area.
