Steeplechasing brings together speed, stamina and judgement as horse and rider negotiate fences while maintaining the rhythm of the race. Each jump demands balance, confidence and precise timing, with both committed to the same line of movement.
This design captures horse and rider in full flight over the fence, with the extended stride and forward position of the jockey carrying the composition across the glass. Sweeping marks beneath and behind the horse suggest the fence, ground and movement of the jump, giving the engraving its sense of pace and direction.
Developed specifically for glass, the composition preserves movement and clarity while allowing the finer details to emerge as light moves across the engraved surface.
