The Story Behind the Design
Lily of the Valley, hawthorn and a dormouse gathered within a May composition, celebrating renewal, new beginnings and the abundance of late spring
Each Birth Flower design is created around the traditional flowers of its month, accompanied by a carefully chosen British bird, animal or insect whose character reflects the same season. Rather than illustrating botanical specimens individually, each engraving is composed as a connected arrangement that wraps naturally around the glass, allowing the elements to interact as a single composition.
Every design is drawn specifically for engraving, balancing botanical detail with clear line work so the finished engraving remains crisp, durable and suited to everyday use while retaining the character of the original artwork.
Developed as a continuous wrap around composition, each month's flowers, wildlife and symbolism flow naturally around the bowl of the glass, revealing different details as the glass is turned.
