Birth Flowers Through the Seasons

Birth flowers have long been associated with particular months of the year, carrying meanings that range from friendship and affection to resilience and renewal. Many interpretations focus on a single bloom. When we began developing this collection, we wanted to take a different approach.

Rather than treating each flower as an isolated botanical study, we chose to create complete seasonal compositions. Each design combines birth flowers with wildlife and natural motifs associated with that point in the year, allowing the engraving to tell a broader story about the changing seasons and the symbolism often connected with them.

The result is a collection of wraparound engravings that move around the glass rather than sitting within a single engraving panel, creating a more continuous and immersive composition.

Although rooted in winter, the design also looks forward, returning once again to the themes of renewal that begin the collection in January.

Designed as Complete Compositions

Whilst each design can be selected to represent a birth month, the collection is increasingly being used to mark birthdays, anniversaries and family milestones. The compositions can also be adapted and combined for bespoke commissions where multiple birth months are represented within a single engraving.

Every design is prepared specifically for engraving, with line weight, spacing and composition adjusted to suit the shape of the glass. The wraparound format allows flowers, wildlife and symbolism to work together as a complete scene, creating pieces that are as much about the season as they are about the flower itself.

As the collection continues to grow, the aim remains the same: to create engravings that celebrate the character of each month through a considered combination of nature, symbolism and craftsmanship.
