Ben Nevis is shown from the North East Face, where the mountain's steep corries, cliffs and ridgelines reveal a very different character from its western slopes. Prepared from reference photography and interpreted for engraving, the composition captures the dramatic architecture of the mountain, preserving the distinctive landforms that have made this one of Britain's most celebrated mountaineering landscapes.
Drawn specifically for engraving on glass, the composition simplifies and adjusts natural detail while preserving the character of the mountain. Variations in line weight and texture allow the changing light to reveal different parts of the landscape as the glass is turned. Line weight, spacing and proportion are carefully adjusted throughout the design to suit the form and scale of the glass.
The engraving is arranged to preserve the character and proportions of the landscape, maintaining clarity and recognisability when engraved.
