About This Commission

A bespoke engraved display plaque prepared from your crest, insignia, badge, logo or emblem.

This glass display plaque provides a clean, architectural presentation for crests, insignia, badges, logos and other symbolic designs. Every commission is prepared individually from the artwork you supply, whether it represents a military unit, emergency service, club, organisation, institution or family.

Artwork is assessed and prepared specifically for engraving, with layout, proportion and line weight adjusted to suit both the design and the chosen plaque size. Personalised names, dates, ranks, presentation wording and dedications can all be incorporated to create a unique commemorative or presentation piece.

Each plaque is engraved using our traditional sandblasting process, producing a crisp permanent finish that captures the detail and character of the original artwork.

Form & Proportion

A clear glass plaque with polished bevelled edges designed for display. The smooth front surface provides an uninterrupted area for intricate engraving, making it ideal for crests, commemorative artwork, dedications and presentation pieces. Its weighted thickness gives it presence, while the bevel catches the light for a refined, understated finish.

The Commission Process

Each commission is prepared individually in our studio, with artwork reviewed and approved before engraving begins.

Artwork Review

Artwork Review

We review the crest, insignia or reference provided and assess how it will translate clearly into engraving.

Design & Engraving Layout

Design & Engraving Layout

Where required, artwork is refined or redrawn for engraving. An Engraving Layout is prepared and issued for approval before engraving begins.

Engraving & Finishing

Engraving & Finishing

Once approved, the piece is engraved by hand in our Fife studio and prepared for presentation or display.

Family coats of arms and clan crests vary considerably in their detail and composition. We hold a growing archive of designs already prepared for sandblast engraving, and where suitable artwork is held, no additional design preparation is required.

Where a family name or clan design is not currently held in our studio archive, the artwork will be reviewed and prepared specifically for engraving. Any design fee required will be confirmed in your Bespoke Commission Summary before work begins.

Explore the Bespoke Design Service

Approved artwork is retained within our studio archive, making it straightforward to commission additional pieces using the same design. Where the existing artwork can be used without further design work, a further design fee will not normally apply.
