About This Commission

A signature is one of the most personal marks a person leaves behind. Its shape, rhythm and small irregularities develop over time and belong to the individual who wrote it.

This piece is created from original signatures, handwriting or written material supplied by the client. The taller format of the vase allows signatures and supporting text to be arranged across the surface while retaining the character of the original hand.

Names, dates or short presentation wording can be incorporated where appropriate. Each commission is assessed individually and the final composition prepared for approval before engraving.

The Handmade Bubble Base Cylinder Vase features a straight-sided form rising from a solid, sculpted bubble foot. The uninterrupted vertical wall provides a clean engraving surface suited to crests, monograms or commemorative text.

Its balanced proportions allow it to function equally as a display piece or working vase, offering a structured, contemporary alternative to more ornate floral forms.

Each commission begins with the handwriting, signature or other original material you would like us to work from. We review what you send and prepare it for engraving with the character of the original retained.

Send us a clear photograph or scan of the signature, handwriting or source material. We assess the quality and suitability before design preparation begins.

Design & Engraving Layout

Design & Engraving Layout

The original material is prepared for engraving and arranged to suit the chosen piece. An Engraving Layout is then shared for review, with one consolidated refinement included within the agreed brief.

Approval, Engraving & Presentation

Approval, Engraving & Presentation

Once approved, the piece is engraved and checked in our Fife studio before being prepared for presentation or dispatch.

Handwritten signatures, messages and other original material may require our Bespoke Design Service. This covers the interpretation, redrawing, refinement and composition required to prepare the material specifically for sandblast engraving. The design requirements and applicable fee will be confirmed following initial review.

Approved artwork is retained within our studio archive, making it straightforward to commission additional pieces using the same design. Where the existing artwork can be used without further design work, an additional Design & Layout Fee will not normally apply.
