The Story Behind the Design
Traditional Scottish Luckenbooth design associated with engagements, weddings, anniversaries and enduring symbols of love and commitment.
The Luckenbooth has been exchanged in Scotland for centuries as a symbol of affection, loyalty and lasting commitment. Traditionally given between sweethearts, it later became associated with engagements, weddings, anniversaries and family celebrations, making it one of Scotland's most enduring romantic emblems.
This engraved interpretation combines the characteristic intertwined hearts with Celtic knotwork, thistles, a stag's head and crown, bringing together several traditional Scottish motifs within a single balanced composition. The design has been carefully adapted for glass, allowing names, dates and personal inscriptions to be incorporated without losing the recognisable character of the original Luckenbooth. Every line is prepared specifically for sandblasting so the finished engraving remains crisp, balanced and permanent.
Line weight and spacing are adjusted to retain definition across finer engraved elements.
