The Story Behind the Design

The Old Man of Storr on Skye, where a dramatic rock pinnacle rises above the Trotternish Ridge and the surrounding coastline

The Old Man of Storr rises from the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye, where a dramatic rock pinnacle stands above cliffs, landslips and the island's eastern coastline. Its distinctive silhouette has made it one of Scotland's most recognisable landscapes and a defining feature of Skye.

Prepared from reference photography and interpreted for engraving, the composition preserves the towering pinnacle, surrounding rock formations and the broad landscape beyond while simplifying detail for clarity on glass. Careful use of line, contrast and proportion creates an engraving that remains crisp, enduring and true to the character of this remarkable place.

The engraving is arranged to preserve the character and proportions of the landscape, maintaining clarity and recognisability when engraved.

Engraving & Personalisation

A short personal inscription may be included with this design. Each engraving is arranged in the studio to suit the composition of the glass.

If your requirements extend beyond the personalisation available on this listing, please get in touch. Longer inscriptions or more complex requirements may require a bespoke quotation.

A Personalisation Layout is provided before engraving so you can check the wording, names, dates and other factual information supplied with your order.

The Glass

Stemmed tulip-profile beer glass available in two capacities, offering a defined engraving panel and stable footed base.

The stemmed beer glass features a gently curved tulip bowl set on a proportionate stem and stable foot, providing a clear forward engraving field with minimal distortion.

Available in two sizes:

• 380ml – suited to 330ml bottles and craft cans

• 620ml – accommodates a full pint with headspace

The stemmed construction provides separation from the bowl for improved handling, while the curvature supports balanced engraving placement across the central panel.

Each piece is engraved in our Fife studio using traditional sandblasting, chosen for its depth, clarity and permanence.
