The Story Behind the Design
The Inaccessible Pinnacle on Sgùrr Dearg, the iconic rock pinnacle rising from the Black Cuillin and one of Britain's most recognisable mountain landmarks.
The Inaccessible Pinnacle rises from the summit ridge of Sgùrr Dearg in the Black Cuillin, its narrow blade of rock standing apart from every other Munro in Scotland. One of the most distinctive landmarks in British mountaineering, its dramatic profile has become synonymous with the Isle of Skye.
Prepared from reference photography and interpreted for engraving, the composition captures the steep rock faces, surrounding Cuillin ridge and the unmistakable form of the pinnacle itself. Careful use of line, contrast and proportion preserves the character of this remarkable mountain while creating an engraving that remains crisp, enduring and well suited to glass.
