Striding Edge on Helvellyn, the famous narrow ridge that has become one of the most recognised mountain routes in the Lake District
Helvellyn is one of the Lake District's best known mountains, recognised as much for the elegant sweep of Striding Edge as for the summit itself. Viewed from above Red Tarn, the ridge forms a distinctive line across the landscape, combining broad fells with exposed rock in one of Britain's most memorable mountain scenes.
Prepared specifically for engraving, this illustration captures the ridge, tarn and surrounding fells as a single composition. Fine linework and carefully judged contrast preserve the character of the landscape while creating an engraving that reveals new detail as it catches the light.
The composition is arranged to sit cleanly within the glass, allowing the form to remain legible without crowding the surface.
