The Story Behind the Design
The second of the Four Morning Drams. An engraved whisky glass featuring the traditional Scots Gaelic expression Friochd uilinn, meaning "the elbow dram", with pronunciation and explanation.
Friochd uilinn, the "elbow dram", traditionally follows once you've risen and settled comfortably for the morning. It forms the second stage in the sequence of the Four Morning Drams.
The engraving pairs the original Scots Gaelic phrase with its pronunciation and a concise explanation, creating a design that celebrates the language as much as the custom. Clean typography gives the words space to speak for themselves.
The engraving is centred and spaced to maintain balance within the available engraving area.
