About This Commission

Your family's Coat of Arms presented as a traditional heraldic composition with crest and surname.

This design presents your chosen Coat of Arms using the principal shield and surname, creating a clean heraldic composition that is well suited to engraving onto glass. Each Coat of Arms is prepared individually using established heraldic references to ensure the correct arms are reproduced for your chosen family.

The Signature Edition focuses on the shield as the central element of the design, with the family name presented beneath to create a simple, balanced composition.

Each engraving is prepared individually using our traditional sandblasting process, producing a crisp permanent finish that captures the character and detail of your family's heraldic arms.

The engraving is centred and spaced to maintain balance within the available engraving area.

Form & Proportion

Classic straight sided whisky tumbler with a substantial weighted base, providing a defined engraving area suitable for detailed artwork and presentation inscriptions.

  • Height 86 mm
  • Capacity 330 ml

Suitable for whisky, bourbon, rum and other short serves. The straight sided form provides a generous engraving area, while the substantial base gives the glass a reassuring weight in the hand.

The Commission Process

Each commission is prepared individually in our studio, with artwork reviewed and approved before engraving begins.

Artwork Review

Artwork Review

We review the crest, insignia or reference provided and assess how it will translate clearly into engraving.

Design & Engraving Layout

Design & Engraving Layout

Where required, artwork is refined or redrawn for engraving. An Engraving Layout is prepared and issued for approval before engraving begins.

Engraving & Finishing

Engraving & Finishing

Once approved, the piece is engraved by hand in our Fife studio and prepared for presentation or display.

Family coats of arms and clan crests vary considerably in their detail and composition. We hold a growing archive of designs already prepared for sandblast engraving, and where suitable artwork is held, no additional design preparation is required.

Where a family name or clan design is not currently held in our studio archive, the artwork will be reviewed and prepared specifically for engraving. Any design fee required will be confirmed in your Bespoke Commission Summary before work begins.

Approved artwork is retained within our studio archive, making it straightforward to commission additional pieces using the same design. Where the existing artwork can be used without further design work, a further design fee will not normally apply.
