The Story Behind the Design
Traditional Irish Claddagh design celebrating love, friendship, loyalty and enduring relationships.
The Claddagh originated in the fishing village of Claddagh near Galway and has become one of Ireland's most recognised symbols of love, friendship and loyalty. Combining a heart held by two hands beneath a crown, it has long been exchanged to mark engagements, weddings, anniversaries and lasting personal relationships.
This engraved interpretation places the traditional Claddagh at the centre of a balanced decorative composition, framed by Celtic flourishes and shamrock motifs. Rather than reproducing historic jewellery directly, the design has been carefully adapted for glass, allowing names, dates and personal inscriptions to be incorporated while preserving the distinctive character of the original symbol. Every line is prepared specifically for sandblasting so the finished engraving remains crisp, balanced and permanent.
The engraving is centred and spaced to maintain balance within the available engraving area.
