Venice is a city shaped as much by water as by stone, where churches, bridges and narrow canals combine to create one of Europe's most recognisable urban landscapes.
This engraving interprets a familiar Venetian canal scene through expressive architectural linework. The loose construction lines suggest the artist's original sketch while preserving the rhythm of domes, façades, bridges and reflections. Prepared specifically for engraving, the composition captures the atmosphere of Venice through structure and observation, allowing the transparency of the glass to become part of the scene itself.
