About This Commission

This design presents a fuller coat of arms composition, incorporating the shield, crest and mantling with the surname arranged beneath.

The individual heraldic elements are prepared as one composition, with proportion, spacing and line weight adjusted to retain the structure of the reference artwork at engraving scale.

Where a surname is used to identify a historical heraldic reference, it is treated as a design reference rather than confirmation of heraldic entitlement.

The Atelier wine glass features a taller bowl profile and slimmer stem compared to the Signature version, creating a more elongated silhouette. The additional bowl height provides a larger engraving area, allowing detailed crests, monograms or multi-line inscriptions to be positioned with improved spacing and clarity.

The refined stem and balanced foot contribute to a lighter visual profile while maintaining stability for display and table presentation.

Where required, artwork is prepared or redrawn for engraving and arranged to suit the chosen piece. An Engraving Layout is then shared for review, with one consolidated refinement included within the agreed brief.

Once approved, the piece is engraved and checked in our Fife studio before being prepared for presentation or dispatch.

Family coats of arms and clan crests vary considerably in their detail and composition. We hold a growing studio archive of designs already prepared for sandblast engraving, and where suitable artwork is held, no additional design preparation is usually required.

Where a family name or clan design is not currently held in our studio archive, the artwork is reviewed and prepared specifically for engraving. Any applicable Design & Layout Fee will be confirmed in your Bespoke Commission Summary before design work begins.
