Ben Vorlich rises above the northern shore of Loch Earn, its sharply defined summit forming one of the most recognisable mountain profiles in the Southern Highlands. Viewed from across the water, the mountain appears to rise directly from the loch, creating a distinctive composition of rock, hillside and reflected light.
This illustration captures that classic perspective, placing the broad expanse of Loch Earn in the foreground before leading the eye towards Ben Vorlich's steep western face. The changing textures of water, hillside and exposed rock are interpreted through line and contrast, creating a composition that translates naturally to engraving on glass. As light moves across the engraved surface, different elements of the landscape emerge, revealing new detail from every angle.
