The Lairig Ghru is one of Scotland's best known mountain passes, following an ancient route through the heart of the Cairngorms between Deeside and Strathspey. Winding between high ridges and broad glacial valleys, it has long been travelled by walkers drawn to its sense of scale and remoteness.
Prepared specifically for engraving, this illustration captures the sweeping form of the pass as it narrows between the surrounding mountains, using finely judged linework to convey the depth and movement of the landscape. The engraving preserves the character of the route while revealing new detail as it catches the light.
