The Cairngorms rise beyond the shores of Loch Morlich, where one of Scotland's highest mountain plateaux meets ancient Caledonian pine forest and one of the country's most distinctive freshwater lochs. This viewpoint brings together mountain, woodland and water in a landscape that has become synonymous with the Cairngorm National Park.
Prepared from reference photography and interpreted for engraving, the composition preserves the broad sweep of the mountains, the shoreline of Loch Morlich and the texture of the surrounding forest while simplifying detail for clarity on glass. Careful use of line, contrast and proportion creates an engraving that remains crisp, enduring and true to the character of the place.
