Engraved Decanter and Glasses for Mickleover Football Club
Share
This commission involved preparing an engraved decanter and four matching whisky glasses for the retiring Chairman of Mickleover Football Club.
Reference and Preparation
The club logo was supplied as the central reference for the commission.
Particular attention was required during artwork preparation, as the rampant lions within the crest needed to retain clarity at a much smaller engraving scale. The logo was redrawn and adjusted for sandblasting, refining line weights and internal spacing so the smaller heraldic elements would remain legible once engraved.
A ribbon bearing the Chairman’s name was incorporated beneath the crest, prepared as part of the overall composition rather than as a separate addition.
Layout
The decanter carried the full engraved arrangement, including the crest, ribbon and three lines of personalised inscription.
The accompanying whisky glasses were engraved with the crest only, maintaining clarity and proportion on the smaller surface area available.
Approval Process
The commission was prepared for committee approval prior to engraving.
Digital layouts were reviewed before production began, allowing the arrangement, spacing and inscriptions to be confirmed across the full set before the artwork moved into stencil preparation.
Engraving
Once approved, the artwork was transferred to stencil and applied across the decanter and glasses.
Each piece was sandblasted individually, producing a consistent etched finish throughout the set.
Outcome
The completed work forms a coordinated presentation set, with the decanter acting as the central presentation piece and the accompanying glasses carrying the same visual identity in a simplified form.
