The Story Behind the Design
The fourth of the Four Morning Drams. An engraved whisky glass featuring the traditional Scots Gaelic expression Deoch Bhleith, meaning "the grinding dram", with pronunciation and explanation.
Deoch Bhleith, or "the grinding dram", was traditionally taken before beginning the day's work, particularly before grinding grain for the morning meal. It completes the sequence of the Four Morning Drams.
Presented in Scots Gaelic with its pronunciation and explanation, the engraving focuses on the language itself. The uncluttered layout reflects the character of the collection, preserving a small piece of Scotland's whisky heritage in a design intended to be read as well as enjoyed.
The engraving is centred and spaced to maintain balance within the available engraving area.
