Every bespoke commission begins with structured artwork preparation.

Lodge crests, heraldic devices, architectural references and multi-element designs are carefully redrawn and balanced before engraving begins. This stage ensures clarity at scale, protects symbolic integrity and allows the final engraving to sit with precision on the chosen glassware or plaque.

Artwork preparation is completed prior to production and includes one proof for approval. 

Every commission is prepared as an original engraving design developed in line with our studio approach.

Artwork preparation covers the time required to review, interpret, redraw and compose your engraving design prior to engraving. As this work begins once purchased, artwork preparation is non-refundable.

What This Preparation May Include

• Redrawing complex emblems for glass engraving
• Refining line weight and internal detail
• Simplifying multi-layered crests while preserving meaning
• Balancing composition for curved or tapered forms
• Scaling to maximise engraving area without distortion
• Preparing an artwork proof for approval

Each commission is assessed individually to determine the appropriate preparation level.

Preparation Levels

Most corporate logos and masonic crests fall within Standard Preparation.

Standard Preparation – £30
For clear, balanced engraving layouts.

Detailed Preparation – £45
For refined crest redraw, structural simplification and layout balancing.

Complex Preparation – £60
For multi-element emblems, heraldic compositions or illustrated references requiring deeper refinement and compositional restructuring.

The appropriate preparation level will be confirmed once artwork has been reviewed.

Important Process Note

Engraving begins only after artwork approval.

One round of refinements is included with artwork preparation. Changes that alter the agreed design direction or require a new composition may require further artwork preparation.
