Grand Union Lodge 9641 – Engraved Gift Sets for Presentation Evening

From Our Archive – Bespoke Lodge Commissions
Some commissions unfold like stories — one order leading quietly to another, until the glass itself becomes part of the evening it was made for.
Our first request came from Tony, a member of Grand Union Lodge No. 9641, who asked us to prepare three engraved sets for an upcoming presentation night:
- A wine decanter with two matching Atelier wine glasses
- A whisky decanter with two matching Atelier whisky glasses
- And a separate pair of Atelier wine glasses, engraved on both sides
Each piece carried the lodge crest on the front — a complex design of pillars, chequered floor, globes, a square and compass, and a central swan symbolising the county of Buckinghamshire — with a personal message engraved on the reverse. The artwork was fully redrawn to balance so many intricate elements and remain legible on curved glass.
Soon after, a second order arrived from another brother within the same lodge — this time for a wine decanter with two matching Atelier wine glasses and two gin glasses, to be presented to Tony himself at the very same meeting.
What followed still makes us smile. After the event, Tony sent a note that read:
“Dear Helena,
We had our lodge meeting last Wednesday and I had prepared to present the two gifts I had purchased on behalf of Grand Union Lodge to Bro Clarridge and Grimes.
I was in full flow and then… you can imagine my surprise when suddenly everything went ‘off script’ and I found myself on the receiving end of a decanter and glasses.I was delighted, my gift was beautiful. For future purchases I now know I can rely on you to keep a secret.”
It was the perfect end to a pair of commissions that celebrated fellowship, surprise, and a little well-kept discretion — values that run deep through Freemasonry itself.
Hand-engraved in our Fife studio, July (and August) 2025.
