The Story Behind Your Design

A classic apothecary-style decanter engraved in close collaboration with you, created to honour the individuality of your lodge. Each piece begins with your own lodge crest or badge at the centre, and we prepare the layout by hand so the engraving sits clearly and with balance. Some crests suit the full symbolic border, featuring the Working Tools, acacia leaves, the Star of David, and corner-mounted Square & Compasses, while others look their best with a cleaner, crest-focused composition. Your approval is always part of the process.

Once you send your crest (or ask us to check our archive), we’ll guide you through the composition and prepare a digital mock-up for review. Optional personalisation such as suffix, name, rank, and year can be added to mark service, celebrate an installation, honour a milestone, or create a thoughtful gift for a Past Master or visiting brother.

How We’ll Work Together

No two crests are alike. Once you share your artwork, we prepare the engraving layout by hand, advising whether a full symbolic border or a simpler composition will best suit your design. You’ll receive a mock-up to approve before engraving begins, ensuring your decanter feels personal, balanced, and true to your lodge.

About Your Bottle

This vintage-inspired apothecary bottle combines old-world charm with practical versatility, making it ideal for spirits, infused oils, bath salts, or decorative display. Subtle character quirks within the glass itself add to its nostalgic appeal and individuality. Each bottle is engraved in our Fife studio using traditional sandblasting, a quiet, hands-on process that creates a deep, satin-smooth finish designed to last. Simpler engravings typically take around 30–40 minutes, while personalised or wraparound motifs allow extra time for artwork preparation and masking.

Personalisation Guidelines

We include up to 30 characters of complimentary engraving underneath the design (including spaces). This ensures your message sits comfortably and remains legible beneath the artwork.

As part of this service, we’ll send one digital layout preview for approval before engraving begins. If you need a little more, additional characters are charged at 30p each, and any further layout previews are £2.50 each.

We always aim for a layout that balances beautifully and suits the shape of the glass, but final positioning is at the discretion of the studio.

Please note: Complimentary engraving is placed on the same side as the design. For alternative layouts or engraving on the reverse, please contact the studio before placing your order.

A note on returns

Once a piece includes any personalisation (even complimentary characters) it becomes made just for you and is non-returnable unless faulty. Please double-check names, dates, and spelling before you confirm.

Artwork Approval

Before engraving begins, you’ll receive a digital proof of your layout. Please check all spelling, dates, names, punctuation, and design placement carefully.

Engraving is completed exactly to the approved proof, and any errors not flagged at the approval stage (including spelling) are the customer’s responsibility. Re-engraving or replacement costs may apply.

Delivery & Returns

We carefully pack each order in eco-friendly materials wherever possible. Orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked delivery, with standard UK delivery typically taking 2–4 working days from dispatch (excluding Sundays and public holidays).

Our Technique

Our traditional sandblast engraving delivers crisp detail, deep texture, and a tactile satin finish that stands apart from laser or transfer methods. Hand-engraved in our Fife studio using single-use stencils, each piece is prepared, blasted, and polished by hand for exceptional sharpness and permanence.

How it’s done:

  1. Artwork is refined as a vector for clean, precise lines.
  2. A UV-exposed stencil is created for single-use masking.
  3. Stencils and tape are applied to the glass by hand.
  4. Each piece is sandblasted by hand for depth and detail.
  5. Finally, it’s cleaned, polished, inspected, and gift-boxed.

A time-honoured process that combines heritage craft with contemporary precision.

A Note on Styling

To showcase the quality of our glassware, some images include bottles, books, or props for styling. These are for context only and are not included. Your purchase is for the glassware only. Unless explicitly stated otherwise (for example, a gift set containing two glasses or a decanter and glasses), each item is sold individually.
