The Story Behind the Bowl: Crafting a 360° Engraved Design

Some engravings take longer — not because they’re larger, but because they deserve a little extra thought.

This presentation bowl was commissioned as a thank-you for Penny: 25 years at the Village Show in Keysoe. The design? Our Le Jardin wraparound — engraved as a continuous 360° scene.

That meant careful layout, split stencils, and a lot of double-checking before we ever touched the sandblasting cabinet.

John prints the design in parts — three panels instead of four, so the birds wouldn’t land opposite one another and spoil the flow. We test it on paper first, adjust the placement, then create a single-use stencil.

Lining everything up, cutting the personalised message, applying it all perfectly… it’s not a quick process. And once you start engraving, visibility drops. The only way to check it’s perfect before removing the stencil? By touch.

A quiet process. Made personal. Made to last.
